This known work of Georg Hom features an old bearded man lighting a pipe.

Georg Hom (1838-1911) was very popular as a portraitist and genre painter. He was especially noted for his paintings with candlelight effects. He regularly exhibited at annual shows in Frankfurt, Berlin, and Munich.

The print appears to be on canvas, but since we can't spot brushstrokes with the naked eye it is being sold as a vintage reproduction print.

The gold gesso accented frame is quite heavy giving the piece a high-quality weight and feel. It is quite large compared to some of the old plaques that have sold for hundreds of the same image.

Overall good vintage condition, but expect wear for its age which includes: Gold gesso frame has some general wear & knicks throughout. Small tear to the canvas on top edge above his hat.
