This is an original vintage poster from Oktoberfest in Munich/München Germany in 1970, not a reproduction. No linen backing, it is in its original condition.

Oktoberfest Posters are a long-standing tradition of the annual festival. Every year, since 1952, the festival has been holding a design competition to find the year’s official festival design. These designs end up on the official event posters as well as souvenir beer mugs.

The 1970 poster was designed by Roman Spiro. This vibrant poster shows a happy little monk (the folks who founded the city of Munich) holding a giant green Alpine hat overflowing with traditional Bavarian foods, including Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), Brezeln (pretzels), the ever-popular heart shaped cookie, and most importantly bier!

A great poster for a serious collector.

We have a collection of 8 of these original posters. All 8 of them have varying degrees of some discoloration and wear at the top of the poster likely from improper storage over the years.

The poster shown in the photos has the most wear out of all of them so that you will not be surprised upon receiving your item. Much of the wear could be hidden when framing.
Aside from the discoloration at the very top, the rest of the poster is vibrant in color and in great condition for being 50 years old!

No major tears or pin holes, it's perfect to adorn the walls of your kitchen, dining room, office, bar or restaurant!

The poster will ship rolled safely in a mailer tube.
