Jahangir / Shah Jahan Indian Mughal Emperor Antique Painting on Fabric Canvas
$1,299.00
An absolutely stunning addition to any room, this vintage painting on fabric has just the right amount of wear to appeal to any vintage bohemian aesthetic.
The subject of the painting is a mighty Mughal Emperor. Likely Jahangir or his son, Shah Jahan whom both ruled the Mughal empire through the 1600s. Shah Jahan is most notably known for building the Taj Mahal.
The thin black fabric is spread across a wooden frame to create a canvas. The pain is very vibrant and rich, including the emperor's shimmering gold robe. The emperor is shown dressed in fine linens and adorned with jewels, he is also holding a jewel-studded gold trinket.
If you are purchasing, understand that there is some notable wear to the art, a few small tears, and rips to the fabric, as well as some light staining. It really helps add to the vintage feel and confirms a true aged piece of Mughal art. View the photos for details or ask if you have any questions.
On the backside of the painting, on the Emperor's neck, the painting is signed "JES/p/216". The painting is wired and ready to hang, and a professional canvas frame would really help to elevate the look of the art.
Dimensions:
39" tall x 27" wide x 0.75" deep
